Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel's Founding Director Honored

Petach Tikvah, Israel - February 19, 2007 - The Schneider Family was proud to announce a unique and special honor for Prof Yehuda Danon, Founding Director of Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel on the occasion of his retirement. They noted that in addition to his many accomplishments, Yehuda has a remarkable depth and breadth of knowledge and the distinction of having been a Fulbright scholar twice. Today he represents not only Israel in official Fulbright gatherings but also is the only doctor worldwide who represents Fulbright on official occasions internationally. With final, formal approval of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, the public Board of Directors of the worldwide Fulbright program, whose members are appointed by the President of the United States of America, the Schneider Family and Fulbright-Israel is now officially entitled to the use the name "Fulbright-Schneider" to describe awards. To that end, Lynn Schneider announced the Fulbright-Schneider Yehuda Danon Post Doctoral Fellowships. The Danon Fellows will be selected from among the life science post-doc fellows of each year. The substantial donation of the Schneider Family will support ten fellows over the next years beginning with two for the 2007-2008 Academic Year. Both Prof. Danon and Lynn Schneider will sit on the decision committee. The award winners this year will be announced at a special dinner at the US Ambassador's residence on May 9.
